Ready to Start?

Asheville, NC

First, schedule a complimentary 20 minute phone consultation.

Once you schedule, I send you a quick 5 minute questionnaire to complete before we talk. Your consultation session can help us decide if I am the right fit for you and will help me provide you with awesome referrals if I’m not. Either way, a win/win.

If we decide we are a good fit, we will schedule your first appointment over the phone. I will then send you an email with a link to sign up for your own personalized client portal.

What are the Benefits of the Online Portal?

. Secure Messaging between sessions

  • Intake Documents Available Prior to your First Session

  • Shared Documents/Assessments

  • Access to Billing Documents

Before your first appointment:

Since you will already have access to your client portal, the intake documents will be available for you to complete, preferably 24 hours before your first appointment.  This saves time, so you don’t have to show up early and allows me to review your information before we meet. I’ll also have a more in-depth idea of what’s bringing you in, which can also help you to feel more at ease.

During your first appointment:

We will talk about your strengths, your struggles and your goals.

It’s TOTALLY normal to feel nervous in your first session. I’m nervous the first time I meet people, too. You are in good company. The first appointment lasts 60 minutes and the following sessions range from 50-60 minutes.

I will focus on helping you to feel comfortable from the get go. You will decide how often you would like to come.

I do recommend weekly at first so we can get to know each other better since research shows that the relationship between a counselor and client is essential to change. Over the course of our time together, we will re-assess your goals to see how you are progressing and adjust as necessary.

What do I have to do in sessions?

Therapy works best when you are actively participating and attending sessions. The way I work is very engaging and interactive. We might even yell, kick, and stomp if the mood strikes us.  So, come prepared to roll up your sleeves and express yourself. Your participation might also depend on whether or not you are participating in EMDR therapy and or how open you are to Yoga skills. Click the EMDR and Yoga for Mental Health buttons to learn more.

Other questions you might have…

How often do I need to come?

I do recommend weekly at first so we can get to know each other best in the least amount of time since research shows that the relationship between a counselor and client is essential to change. Over the course of our time together, we will check in to re-assess your progress and adjust if needed from there.

How long will I be in therapy?

Many clients come weekly for 4-6 months and then move to bi-weekly. However, weekly sessions could be longer depending on your unique goals, your commitment and the factors that brought you to seek therapy in the first place. Length of treatment varies case by case.

How much does each session cost?  Do you accept insurance?

Great question! Therapy is a priceless investment into your own mental health. Check out my fees and insurance page to learn more .
